On April 12, 2023, Damien Bosher (9 year old student at Wedgefield School K-8), went into the ER after a persistent cough he had been battling for about a month. Though he had been seen by local physicians on multiple occasions, his cough was not subsiding. The ER Doctor believed there was severity in Damien’s cough and ordered additional tests. Unfortunately, these tests uncovered every parent’s worst fears, a mass in his chest. Damien was given a biopsy on April 13th and was diagnosed with Acute T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. Doctors immediately began treating Damien who received his first dose of chemotherapy on Monday, April 17th.
Damien and his family have a long road ahead (3-4 years of treatment which is mainly outpatient therapy), but his Doctors are optimistic he will make a full recovery. That being said, Damien and his family will need all the support from his Orange County family during this difficult time.
Those who know Damien will describe him as a relatively shy and quiet, 9 year old boy that is always happy and smiling. When he’s not out at the baseball field he’s interested in Pokemon, yo-yo’s, and loves fishing.
The community and his friends at school are creating this fund to help his family with the financial burden of Damien’s treatment. The financial road ahead is also more difficult after Damien’s father passed away unexpectedly in a motor vehicle accident in August 2017. This additional financial support will allow his mother, Denim, to focus on the thing that truly matters, getting her baby boy healthy again.
If you want to help, please make a gift to the Damien Bosher Family Fund. You may give online using the form below. If you prefer to give by check, please make it payable to "Foundation for OCPS," write "Damien Bosher Fund" in the memo section, and mail it to the Foundation for OCPS, 445 West Amelia Street, Orlando, FL 32801.
PLEASE NOTE: Since all contributions will be distributed to the family, gifts are not considered tax deductible. They will, however, mean a great deal to the family.
