Important Details & Tips to Submit a Winning Audition
Please read thoroughly
¨ Background, lighting, and sound balance are the most important technical elements you want to remember wherever you film. The background should be clean and simple. Be sure the light is good and the room is quiet.
¨ When recording stay in the frame at all times. You should be in the center of the frame with the bottom at the center of your chest and the top of the frame slightly above the top of your head.
¨ Lighting, sound, and costumes could affect judging. Put on your best performance; showcase your personality.
¨ It’s a good idea to have someone else start and stop the recording.
¨ A quality camera (a no-frills digital camera with a good built-in microphone is all you need).
¨ Acts and costumes must be appropriate for family audiences. Your costume must be the same as what you will wear to the performance if you are selected as a finalist. Choose your costume wisely.
¨ It’s always a good idea to check with your performing arts instructor at your school for additional tips before you record your audition.
¨ Only “YouTube” live links will be accepted for your video performance for judging purposes. If you haven’t set up a “YouTube” account be sure to do that and make your account public. We cannot view accounts that are marked private. No other format other than a “YouTube” live link is acceptable due to compatibility issues.
¨ Be sure that your professional headshot and waivers are turned in on time. They are part of the application process. Failure to submit may exclude you from consideration. Don’t forget—turn them in.
