About Carmen Mendez

Sondra Dunlap is a dedicated leader with over two decades of experience in classroom instruction, educational administration, and program development. As the Grant Manager for Federal Programs at OCPS, she oversaw the implementation and monitoring of Title I, II, and IV grants, totaling $108 million in federal funds. Her role involved providing consultation and support services to schools and district departments, ensuring efficient achievement of district priorities and compliance with DOE guidelines.

Today, Sondra works as the Senior Manager of Grants for the Foundation. Sondra’s recent projects include simplifying the application process for Teacher Impact Grants and developing a comprehensive business plan for repurposing the historic Cherokee School site.

Sondra studied literature at Exeter College, Oxford University (UK), holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Edinburgh (UK), and a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from the University of Central Florida. Sondra’s career is marked by her commitment to fostering student success through community engagement.
