It was an evening of celebration!
The Winter Park Health Foundation was recently recognized during the first School Board Meeting of the new year and presented a check to the Foundation for OCPS $710,000. These funds are made possible through their Coordinated Youth Initiative (CYI) and directly support the health and well-being of students attending 13 OCPS schools in Eatonville, Maitland, and Winter Park communities.
The Coordinated Youth Initiative helps fund several OCPS programs:
- The CHILL Counseling Program for 6th through 12th graders struggling with depression, grief, low self-esteem, or other issues.
- Healthy School Teams promote and support student and staff wellness activities.
- School Nursing Services staffs school clinics with registered nurses at the Audubon Park School, Glenridge Middle, and Winter Park High. The program also fills all CYI school clinics with medical supplies.
- School-based health centers at Glenridge Middle and Winter Park High are open to students and families at CYI schools. They are staffed with nurse practitioners and licensed practical nurses who provide physicals and primary- and urgent-care services.
We, our schools, and our community are incredibly thankful for this partnership and investment in our students.
