Stepping into the May 14 Board of Directors meeting for the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools, I was excited to announce to this esteemed group that the organization was awarded a $10,000 Disney Helping Kids Shine Grant! The funding will help pay for literacy materials to support their Read2Succeed program.

Read2Succeed provides one-on-one reading assistance and mentoring to second grade students reading below grade level. Community volunteers are trained to reinforce reading skills and comprehension, as well as to mentor. Each volunteer works one-on-one with a student on reading achievement and social and personal development. Read2Succeed is an ongoing program for the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools and is growing each year with more mentors, students, and delivery of expanded training, resources and books.
